First week....

The first week is over, and we have gotten through most of the administrative details. 5th - 7th grades are getting started writing penpal letters to Montreal, learning vocabulary for mountain, beach, sea, countryside, farm, and vacation. In 6th and 7th, we began working in our readers. In 8th also, students will be reading about a group of students traveling to France, and are learning a little about the history of France. Ask your 8th grader about the insignia on the Opinel knife, or about 5 of the most famous French kings.

Meanwhile in the lower grades, we began looking at our books, Alex et Zoé for 3rd and 4th grades, and Grenadine for 2cnd. Vocabulary will be basic greetings to start with, moving into telling your age, and more details about yourself.

Pre-school, Kindergarten and 1st grade will begin learning some songs, talking about French, and some simple vocabulary words, as well as the Ratounet song, which parents can find on the French blog, in the LINKS, click on Websites to learn French, click on the first link, then on Alphabet/Name. You will see Ratounet sings "Je m'appelle". Click on this, and sing along!
