C'est la rentrée! (It is back to school time!)

September is right ahead and with it another exciting year at The Grammar School. I can't wait to get back to studying French with all of my students and to hear what fun things families did over the summer!
We have new games to play and new books to read in French class. Below is the big picture for each class, for more details see the Curriculum Guide in the column to your right.

Students in pre-school and kindergarten learn about animals, colors, numbers, the alphabet, tell stories, and much more!
In first grade, we use Qtalk cards to learn to talk about Lili, Julien, Luc, Camille, Sophie, and David. We also play games, and read lots of books.
Second graders will follow the shenanigans of Grenadine, the French witch, and a group of friends, as she teaches us French vocabulary and songs.

Third grade works with Alex et Zoé, which we will continue with in fourth grade, and hopefully finish by the end of the year. Alex and Zoé are two children who, with a group of friends, present the French language in a colorful, activity packed book.
Students in fifth grade return to our Qtalk characters and spend time writing sentences that we already know how to say, as well as learning a great deal more vocabulary. New this year, we will have access to on-line games from Qtalk.

In sixth grade, we will transition into our series Amis et co, and follow the story of the Three Musketeers. This book uses language in a more abstract way than the Qtalk series.
During seventh we finish book 1 and move onto book 2 of Amis et co. We also work in a reader book.
8th grade works more extensively in Amis et co 2, where we will read Les Misérables in comic form, and we will work in a reader.

Please email me if you have any questions!

See you on the 4th! A bientôt!
